I ended up writing a duet for trumpet and tuba; an odd combination, to be sure, but it actually sounded pretty cool! After school on Tuesday, I forced my friend to record the trumpet part with me playing the tuba so we could actually have a hard copy, and I have to say that I'm impressed with the result! The piece was "Symphony #6 For Band" by Vincent Persichetti. It's a standard work in the repertoire of band musicians, but it's a symphony nonetheless. There's a really good recording by the Cincinnati Wind Symphony on iTunes, but I digress. I still can't believe that I played an ENTIRE symphony!
