I hate my life...of all the damn times for this to happen...! My flash drive somehow got corrupted the other day and now I can't access anything on it without deleting everything...including the 6000+ words in my NaNoWriMo!!! Now is the hard question: do I continue to work on it, even though I'd be basically starting over, or do I stop this and quit while I'm ahead? _________________

And yesterday was "Back up your novel day!" too! What cruel irony! Sorry Yaz, thats gotta blow royally. I say keep going, this month of writing is strictly for you. You'll be doing yourself a world of favor if you persist and finish what you started, even if it means going again from the beginning. Or just go from where you left off! I find when revising that introductions tend to change dramatically as it is. _________________

That happened to me a couple times. Now I compulsively save ten different versions in ten different places. It's a bit of a headache trying to keep all the versions the same and remember which was the last I edited, but that's nowhere near the headache that comes from losing work forever. Plus I keep old versions of all my stuff just in case I change my mind about something. Okay, so I'm a little OCD, but it's the good, productive kind. Generally. _________________

I've been digging around on my computer, and I've salvaged about 2800 words or so from when I was just messing around with this a while back...so I might just "continue" from there and see if something different comes up from it...although I really doubt that I'll be able to make NaNoWriMo by the end of the month like that... _________________

Fuck Nanowrimo! I normally wouldn't say that, but I saw the portion of your novel you posted on it and... my GOD man. You need to finish that thing. The five-six paragraphs I read filled me with all sorts of wonder. I cannot wait to read the whole thing. Think of Nanowrimo as a disciplining incentive to finish it hastily, but don't think you have to finish it at the same time as everyone else. Like I said before, participating in this is strictly for the benefit of the participators: to get us writing. The past few days I have actually found myself enjoying what I've been writing! Who would have thought that would ever happen?! But for the world's sake, do work on your novel. Some things are so utterly above us we can only watch as they majestically assemble themselves into things of beauty and stark brilliance. I'm not shitting when I say I get that vibe off what you're doing. (At the same time though, I am shitting. Profusely. Stupid stomach flu... I know none of you wanted to know that, but there you go!) _________________

Ouch... I had that happen to my harddrive back in April and I swear I could've killed the next twenty people I saw and not felt remotely bad about it. (Then again, I am an evil overlord, so I guess that's not saying much). Pick up where you can, but don't quit on it. NaNoWriMo isn't about finishing a novel in 30 days, it's about setting a pace and running with it, come hell or high water. _________________ Graciously designed by Tuelumi

All right, I might as well give it a go and see where the hell I can get with it by November 30th. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? _________________
